E2M3 Goodbye Blue Sky is the third mission of the First American Campaign of Reds Over World. It takes place in the town of Little Whinging in United Kingdom during the Soviet invasion of the British Isles, known as the Second Blitz.

Briefing[]

Welcome back from Japan, Sir. Mr. Mishima and the plans are in a safe place... for now. Not to mention our own borders are once again secure; our boys pushed the Red devils back!

At long last, we can help our European allies. The United Kingdom is going through a Soviet invasion since several months; Second Blitz some call it. Only the largest cities are still barely holding together, like stars on a night sky.

You'll be dropped in the Soviet-occupied town of Little Whinging, Surrey. There you'll establish contact with the SAS force operating in the area, and receive further details about this mission. Watch out for anti-air, while you are being dropped, sir!

Description[]

After destroying Chinese arms race victory plans in Tokyo, Martin was ordered to aid the British in retaking one of their towns from the enemy. Martin was parachuted down into the countryside near Little Whinging; the once-merry England's night sky was lit with anti-air fire; glare from the burning cities nearby reflected onto the night clouds.

When reaching the first houses, Martin soon realized that the town is crawling with both VDV and regular Soviet soldiers that were ransacking it. Martin entered Little Whinging and begun clearing it of the Soviet presence, including a wargaming store, it was there that Martin fist saw a new type of Soviet infantry, armed with Tesla suits.

Walking through Little Whinging and it's sewer system, Martin finally reached the town's trainstation, in which he at last found a working radio, using which he contacted the British SAS. A SAS captain, Vernon, picked up, and stated his unit will reach him soon. Before SAS arrived, Martin had to fend off a massive attack of Soviet soldiers, including two especially thuggish bruisers.

SAS stormed into the trainstation and killed all of the remaining Soviets; Captain Vernon proceeded to reveal to Martin the fact that Soviets plan on escaping the British Isles via air with important stolen documents. Martin cleared the flying school they were planning to use to evacuate out, but when all the Soviets bit the bullet, a monstrous half-man half-machine creature emerged from out of one of the crates. After being killed as well, Martin was able to finally breathe a sigh of relief, especially as the now jolly captain Vernon assured him that the United Kingdom will probably drive the rest of the Soviets away without much help.

Back at the Pentagon, a new job was awaiting Martin.

Walkthrough[]

Go to the building in the field; kill the Soviets in it and gather all the ammo and items inside and on the porch. Enter Little Whinging, and clear the streets of Soviet soldiers. Enter the wargaming store; kill the Tesla Troopers using SVD, and then grab the Gold Key to the Pub & Grille building, where you'll find a switch that keeps the gate nearby closed. Press it to open the gate; jump onto crates and into the brick building via window, then enter the restaurant.

Navigate through the sewer system until you reach the Silver Key; grab it and use it on the previously locked door that will take you to the trainstation. Hold on during the attack on the trainstation; focus your attacks on Russian Supersoldiers. Once the SAS arrive and tell you where to go, go to the flying school, taking out enemies from distance via the SVD. Once they're all killed, kill the Terminator using your toughest damage-dealing weapons. The mission is finished.

Secrets[]

  • In the first ruined building, press the brick wall to the right to the kitchen door, it will open a room revealing various health items.
  • A Coachgun is hidden in a wall in the corridor leading to the manager's office in the wargaming store.

Trivia[]

  • Visuals for this level, and it's name, were based on the Pink Floyd song "Goodbye Blue Sky".
  • The Polkiss' game store was originally named a Games Workshop store; the logo was removed because the author feared that Games Workshop, a company infamous for it's treatment of it's copyright (going as far as to f.e. ban fan animations), would get under his skin for utilizing it.
